Captain Robert (Bud) Abbott Ph. D. or Bud as he prefers to be called, was born in the Chicago area but spent his childhood in San Diego, surfing, fishing and tide pool collecting.  He spent most of eleven years hopping around universities in the U.S, Europe, Mexico and Chile focused on not being drawn into the Vietnam War. He eventually graduated from the University of Washington with an M. S. and Ph.D. in Fisheries Science.  He has lived and worked in the Sultanate of Oman, Nigeria, Egypt, Burma, Chile, Tuvalu, and Kiribati on various fisheries development, aquaculture, and environmental impact projects and finally retired at age 73. He is the proud father of his son Tom and daughter Michelle.  He is a moderately capable, but an enthusiastic dancer and musician, and loves a good guitar and ukulele jam anywhere, anytime. Golfing weekly for the walk and flood of green for the eyes, hot tube and infrared treatments for skin pore calisthenics, strength training and tai chi every other day and a bit of yoga daily for balance, and flexibility.  He engages brain and mind with meditation; especially gratefulness and mindfulness type meditations. He occasionally takes deep dives into altered states of consciousness with exercises such as remote viewing. He has talked so much about his adventures fishing, marching with Martin Luther King and time in Nigeria as a PCV that many people have encouraged him to write a book. So now he is learning to be a writer.  He is totally enjoying his life experience and he hopes that you will enjoy reading and pondering his stories and books based on his full indulgence with his appetite for risk.
